“Men buy our votes with our blood, giving us false and measly promises, and then do as they please with our money and us. Jesus Christ bought our votes with His blood, promising abundant life far beyond what politicians could imagine, yet His promises are sure and true. My vote is for Him.” – For Whom Do We Vote?
One reader had the following to say after reading For Whom Do We Vote?:
“After reading your article this is my answer. By not voting you are worrying more about chemicals and genetic enhancements of food than you are about moral issues. I prefer to vote for those who have the same moral values that I do than not to vote and ensure that the liberals who promote abortion, embryonic stem cell research and gay marriage etc. win the election.”
Chaplain Lois
Paul’s response:
Greetings, Lois
You say that you would rather vote for those who have the same moral values as you do. Jesus Christ came to make it known that man’s righteousness is not only inadequate; it is at enmity with God Himself. The religious of His day had higher morals than most professing believers of today. They did all the things the law required, outwardly. But Jesus said to them that unless they fulfilled the spirit of the law, which deals with the motives and the inner state (and is much higher than man’s standards), then they were yet lawbreakers and would not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew chapter 5)
So, what did these religious do? Did they thank God, and put their trust in Him instead of their own moral rectitude? No, they killed the manifest Son of God to maintain their own positions and righteousness. Yes, that had to happen for all of our sakes, and for that we are very thankful. But now the sins of the religious have been fulfilled, and it is time for all to repent. God is no longer tolerating or allowing men to go in these ways. It is His day and time, as has been long spoken of in Scripture.
You are mistaken in what you say because you do not see the invisible God of Whom and from Whom we speak (Who is only seen by the eye of faith). We ARE voting, and you don’t see or believe this because you do not see Him for Whom we are voting. It is either man or God that you put your trust in. Because you trust in man (starting with yourself and your morality), you therefore do not see or trust Him. You also do not believe we can vote for Him, but we are telling you, and everyone else, that not only can we, but we must. It is our only hope, and besides, it is now time to do so.
You say that poisoning the earth and all that is in it, including other people, is not a moral issue. Nothing could be further from the truth! For the moment let me say that this simply confirms what I have said about your blindness. You not only don’t see God, but because you don’t, and especially because you profess to know better, you are blind to so many things. The reason you don’t see the real issues is because you prefer to live the way you want to, without inconvenience to yourself as long as you can maintain your position in this world, according to your own sight and judgment. Those things that you can manage, like not having an abortion, or not being homosexual, are safe issues to assert your morality on. There you can wax religious, be righteous, and feel justified. But you miss the mark completely. You are already an immoral person in many ways to which you have been completely ignorant, and perhaps others in which you are not so unaware.
The Scriptures say we are all in wrongness, not knowing right from wrong, doing evil, against God, and without hope in this world. That is where you are at now.
We are preaching the one and only Hope of all mankind. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, Who came and comes to redeem and save us from our sins, and from the utter arrogance and presumption to vaunt ourselves as if we were godly and knew anything. In such a stance you are in far greater need than the “liberals,” or whoever it is you see as corrupters. You are guilty of the same as you accuse them of, and worse.
By putting your trust in man (and yourself), your example to others is one of self-righteousness being the way, not Jesus Christ. You are a victim of the deceitfulness of sin. Sin even deceives the sinner into thinking she is doing right when she is not. The Lord warned and told us of all this and more. You do not believe Him, and therefore you cannot hear what we are saying.
Repent, Lois. Why go on in ways that are foolish, ignorant, and bring the wrath of God on you? Of what good or use is that?
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder…” (Isa. 9:6).
“Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end…” (v. 7).
Blessed be the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ: Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Wonderful, Counsellor, The Everlasting Father!
