Today, I’d like to talk about truthers. It’s a term I use for people that speak a truth, some truths, and The Truth, in varying degrees with the first two categories.
There are three categories. I’m gonna be reading here, please bear with me. I wish I could just be spontaneous here, but I’ve got a lot of things that I wanted to say, and hopefully, I can cover the ground properly.
The first category of truthers is those who speak some, even several truths, who are the vast majority. Two, those who speak a truth, of whom there are relatively few. And three, those who speak The Truth, who are rare indeed.
I speak The Truth because, unlike the first category, I represent the Lord Jesus Christ, not in my initiative, but by His sovereign will and appointment, in this Day.
Most false teachers are in the first category. Believe it or not, they speak truths; that’s how they can be so powerfully deceptive. Satan speaks truths and quotes Scriptures. He did with Eve, in her temptation, in the Garden of Eden; and with Jesus Christ, in His temptations.
The issue is why Satan spoke those truths, and not that he spoke anything true. This is what Jesus was talking about when He said that even His very elect would be powerfully tested, in the onslaught of deception.
Check out, if you will, ThePathofTruth.com, where you’ll find a list of false teachers, invariably presuming to be spokespersons, or servants, of God, of Jesus-Christ, and who usually expound on the Scriptures. These are of the first category. Those who speak not just a truth, but often several truths. They are both witting and unwitting liars; deceived and deceiving, partisan, and indoctrinated.
The Path of Truth’s posted list is a tiny fraction of false teachers. It barely scratches the surface. However, on the site, there are papers written that can help people identify most, if not all, false teachers. Papers such as The True Marks of a Cult, and Diabolical Doctrines.
I want to make it clear that when I mention any of these people, I have no personal enmity with any of them, that I’m aware of. We can have enmity, we can have bitterness in our hearts and not even realize it; but I honestly do not believe that I have any personal bitterness towards… or resentment or anything like that, towards any of these people.
Then, there is the second category of truthers. The one I’ll concentrate on today, and Lord willing, in days following. These are they, the ones who speak a truth, not always, but appreciably. This category is the one I choose to speak on for now. It is a list of people I recognize in this world; people who I perceive to have some common sense; who boldly speak some valuable truth, and serve to lead others in certain, though not all, right directions, if only partway. Please listen to all my words, because they are not loose or careless, but soberly chosen.
Why do I offer this list? Two reasons.
One, as that prophet, I appreciate those people and what they have to say on many matters.
And two, I want you to know that though I am one with Jesus Christ, Lord God Almighty, I don’t presume to be Jesus Christ personally, as I’ve been accused; nor do I presume to be superior to anyone else. Indeed, I marvel at the understanding that these people have, most without knowing Jesus Christ. I marvel at their intelligence, their quick minds, and eloquent speech, none of which, in my mind, I possess. I know that God is no respecter of persons and deals out gifts of capabilities to all as He sees fit for the times and occasions, according to His goodwill.
Understand, these people of this second category of truthers may all have their faults and vices; some have terrible ones. They may have skeletons hidden in their closets or even sins they openly flaunt. Also, knowing human nature, its unpredictability, and God’s unpredictable ways to turn souls in either direction, these people could turn on a dime at any time and become very different from who they are at present. So, keep that in mind. They are only human. As the poet Alexander Pope is known to have said: “To err is human, to forgive, divine.”
These people who speak a truth are no worse than the first category. Indeed, often, those of the first category are far worse, being hypocrites; that is actors, wholly pretenders. Whereas the second category, not always so much.
Sinners have become saints, by God’s grace; and saints have become sinners, by man’s withdrawal from God’s grace. It happens both ways. Men rise and fall, like everything else. I’ve seen it happen several times. So, as the apostle Paul has said: “Judge nothing before the time.”
For example, the apostle Paul was once a rabid enemy of Christians, until Jesus Christ stopped him dead in his tracks, and instantly turned him around to be a mighty champion for Him.
On the other hand, there was king Solomon of Israel – a tragic situation, but there it is – who, apart from Jesus Christ, was the wisest man who ever lived. Yet, despite that wisdom, he turned to the most heinous of crimes before God and man. How does that happen? How can these things be? But they happen. That said, I’ve come to understand by God, that all men have a purpose in creation; all must serve their station, whether for good or evil – yes, for both. In the end, God will have set everything in order and we will know all things as we need to know them.
I certainly don’t agree with everything the people in this list believe or speak, but they have some good, even remarkable, things to say publicly on certain matters. I also recognize some of them for virtues like courage, good reasoning and principles, decency, godliness, knowledge, honesty, judgment, wisdom, justice, and willingness to suffer and sacrifice for truth and justice’s sake. They are well worth listening to, always with discretion, of course. To God be the glory, always; God alone deserves the credit.
Whatever their motivations, many of these people are willing to speak up. To hell with political correctness and man-pleasing. Many of these people are responsible thinkers who somewhat regard truth and justice above politics and partisanship, which is usually an indicator of character and integrity. They risk their lives, they risk the comfort and wellbeing of their families, to speak how they need to speak. I think that’s commendable.
Understand, I’m not talking about fence-sitters, middle-of-the-roaders, or those carried about by everyone for advantage to themselves and to those that they represent. A lot of people look like they’re… they come across as though they’re neutral and open-minded, objective, and they are more or nothing less than fence-sitters. I’m not talking about anybody like that. I’m talking about people who are kind of laying their necks on the line, and willing to speak out, despite the opposition – vicious, even ruthless, murderous opposition. A lot of these people are facing those kinds of hardships.
Understand, by no means do I expect so much as one person in this list of people to reciprocate or want to have anything to do with me. I expect the opposite, frankly. To many of these, I’m sure I could seem a fool or one they would rather that I didn’t mention them, for fear of an embarrassing association with me.
Regardless, I commend them to the world, as those who people would do well to pay attention to in things they have to say generally, though not concerning anything and everything.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of truthers of the second category. No doubt, there are many others not mentioned here. Feel free to ask me about anyone, and I just might get back to you as to my judgment.
Note that I am a Christian. Yet not all these people are Christian. A few of these people have some sordid lives, and yet I recommend them in limited respect for the good that they speak and do, and the boldness in which they do so. There are Catholics, atheists, homosexuals, New Agers, renegade denominations of all sorts and other types and categories with whom I do not agree; or whose stances, religious or otherwise, I do not sanction. But as I say, God is no respecter of persons, and I’m pleased to give credit where credit is due.
I say God has spoken, manifested Himself, in a myriad of ways, by the least expected vessels; and I bless every one of them. I love them.
If I’m wrong, so be it. May the Lord correct me as He faithfully does all His sons. Even the Son of God took on human limitation and frailty and learned obedience by the things that He suffered. But as a rule, I know what I am talking about; and you would all do well, very well, to pay attention and act, according to Deuteronomy, chapter 18, verses 18 and 19.
