God Is Over Politics

John Laforet responded to A Curse on the Betrayal of Canada:

You clearly have no understanding of a parliamentary democracy if you think there is anything wrong with a majority of MP’s determining who the Prime Minister is.

Please refrain from sending me additional poetry, and remove me from your distribution list.

Victor’s reply:

Mr. Laforet, I am not the least concerned about a “parliamentary democracy” or how it operates. God addresses the hearts, the motives of men, and it is rather clear that you are in your moral corruption along with those you technically, legalistically support. The curse is therefore on you. God is finished winking, Mr. Laforet.

You will receive no more “poetry” or mail from me unless you “entertain” it. We will remove you from our mailing list.

Victor Hafichuk

After John posted this correspondence on his blog [now defunct], Paul sent this reply:

John, you have obviously missed the point of Victor’s letters and much more. There was no mention of religion or party affiliation. We are involved with neither.

What you have done is confined God to a very tiny box, which you call “Religion,” to remove Him and His Law from what you call “Politics.” How convenient! That way you get to do whatever you want and not even God can question you. You ask incredulously if anyone believes that God has an opinion on “the Coalition Government in Canada.”

Firstly, God has no opinions; He knows. Secondly, He is not concerned with party politics, as we have said, but with the matters of men’s hearts. He has created you and paid for you with His blood; there is no doubt or question about His ownership and right to oversee and require what He will, which, by the way, is always for the good of all. You are answerable to Him in all your actions, no matter where and when you commit them:

“Where can I go to get away from Your Spirit? Where can I run to get away from You? If I go up to Heaven, You are there. If I make my bed in Hell, You are there” (Psalms 139:7-8 GW).

This is not religion; it is reality, like it or not, agree or not, comply or not.

You are being taken to task on your misbehavior, and if you were not a fool you would consider it was for your good to listen; you would be thankful rather than mocking and derisive. Victor did not place a curse on you. Read his words more carefully. You have decided to walk in a curse by adamantly denying that there is anything wrong with what you do and support. If we are wrong that you are wrong, then there is nothing to fear and our words are empty. But if we are right, and we are, then you have much to consider:

“If you do well, will you not have honor? And if you do wrong, sin is waiting at the door, desiring to have you, but do not let it be your master” (Genesis 4:7 BBE).

You insist on choosing sin as your master, and you will reap the fruits of your choice. There is no other outcome. Blame us, blame God, but you are the culprit. You will find out just how powerful Victor’s words are, because they are true words from God.

Regarding Hell, we do not believe as you ascribe to us. Inform yourself of the truth, if you will, at The Restitution of All Things. Regarding the vanity of your religious affiliation and works, and those of others, read The True Marks of a Cult, especially the latter section with the many marks of false Christianity.

As for your reckoning of a “majority,” consider the following results from the recent election:

Harper’s Conservatives won 143 seats. On the other hand, the 2 other national parties, the Liberals won 77 seats and the New Democratic Party 37 (Green 0), for a total of 114 seats, 29 seats less than the Conservatives. The Bloc Quebecois won 49 but the BQ is only for Quebec; not one BQ member was elected by Canadians for a united Canada. To allow them to tip the scale and say it is a legitimate coalition in Canada’s favor is like saying a bit of arsenic is fine in your food.

If you were representing the BQ or speaking for them, I would understand your logic, but if you presume to speak for the Liberal Party and Canadian people in general, who can question that you do them disservice with your lack of simple logic?

Paul Cohen

John’s reply:

Dear Paul,

The beauty of Canada is a freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Another beauty of Canada is our Parliamentary democracy that allows for a majority of MPs regardless of party to determine who is best to serve as Prime Minister.

I think it is deeply offensive for you to suggest somehow Victor or you has a right to tell me or anyone else who my creator is and whom I am accoutable too. You view of God and Religion is highly questionable to the vast majority I suspect and while you have your right to believe whatever you want, I too have the right to think you and Victor live life through a very narrow spectrum and are profoundly wrong in your ‘God will punish you message’.

I don’t believe in a vengeful God and question the motives of anyone who tries to twist God’s words to make their point. My view is that if God were vengeful, those like Victor who twist is words and suggest men are somehow cursed for teir actions and that he can somehow convey that curse, are at the top of God’s list of those to whome he should first act vengefully toward.

I am completely respectful of all faith groups and see merit in all major religions. There are aspects of all faiths that resinate to me to varying degrees, and my single largest faith based wish is that extremeists will leave God out of their conflicts. That includes Victor.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and faith, but do not presume for one minute you can try to tell me your twisted version of the truth and expect those of us who do not subscribe to Victor’s ‘unique’ approach to somehow feel compelled to care what you think in relation to me and God.

I stand by my belief that God has nothing to do with Canada’s parliamentary Democracy – and that is for the best. Our pluralism is based on an enlightened view of the role of faith in life. Faith belongs in th home and not the House – it would be great if you and Victor would respect Canada’s Democracy , respect the opposition party leaders and respect good christians who do not want their relationship with God mixed with their politics.

Respect my right to think Victor and his movement, their interference in politics and use of fear as a tool, represent the very worst in organized religion and do not reflect my understanding of mainstream christianity.

Paul’s reply:

John, your understanding of “mainstream Christianity” is your problem and downfall, not your virtue and savior. I will tell you and everyone else why.

First, it is your understanding. You do not have God’s understanding. The apostle Paul said that you, because your understanding is in conflict with God’s, are cursed. That is in the Bible, which you, in great contradiction to yourself and truth, say you honor and respect.

Second, “mainstream Christianity” is also cursed, because it follows “another Jesus,” and not the living Christ spoken of in Paul’s Gospel. Your credentials are false, counterfeit, and unacceptable.

You say you find it deeply offensive that Victor tells you Who your Creator is, to Whom you are accountable. That is always the reaction of the false religious who follow the prince of this world. The constant refrain of rebels and devils to God and His servants is, “Who are you to tell us what to do?” Don’t you know that the religious of Christ’s day were also “deeply offended” with Him, which is why they put Him to death? They were in likewise manner offended with His apostles, and persecuted them as well.

These persecutors were not ignorant heathen, but the knowledgeable religious who knew the Scriptures far better than you do. Jesus said to them:

“Yes, you know Me, and you know where I am from. And yet I have not come of My own accord; but there is One Who has sent Me, an Authority indeed, of Whom you have no knowledge. I know Him, because I came from Him, and He sent Me” (John 7:28-29 WNT).

And: “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father Who glorifies Me, of Whom you say that He is your God. Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I should say I do not know Him, I I would be a liar like you. But I know Him and I keep His Word” (John 8:54-55 MKJV).

Jesus also warned us about men like you:

“Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept My saying, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you for My Name’s sake, because they do not know Him Who sent Me” (John 15:20-21 MKJV).

So we see there is nothing new under the sun in your response, John. It is natural for you not to like to hear from God, seeing you have an alternative version that suits your sinful sensibilities.

In your darkness you grossly misunderstand what we are saying. We are not for instituting men’s religions in politics or anywhere else. We are for ripping them down and doing away with them altogether, but only by the consent of true faith and conviction of God. When you say that “Faith belongs in th home and not the House,” you are speaking of false faith, the only kind of faith you know – artificial, formulaic, dead religion. This “faith” has been responsible for all kinds of tyranny and tragedies via the Catholic Church and many others. Yes, keep them out of the government by all means, but if you will have life you need to keep them out of your homes, too.

True faith is living and ubiquitous, like God Himself, and cannot be cordoned off and controlled by men, as you suggest. How silly of you to think that God has, and should have, nothing to do with your government! While He does not interact at the level or in the ways of partisan men who are limited in their knowledge, He has placed the present ruling powers to do His will. You are entirely ignorant of the Biblical Record of His doings with men, which repeatedly demonstrates that He raises up and removes rulers and governments as He pleases, and is involved in your life down to knowing and determining the very hairs on your head. And you want Him out of your politics! Fool!

Read more on this issue at our Notice Board, where we respond to several in relationship to the coalition matter.

God is not democratic, giving everyone a say on Who He is and What He will do. You make democracy your god, and therefore you serve a cruel master because you place yourself at the whims of unregenerate mankind. We are speaking liberating truth, which releases those who believe the Word of God from the shackles of ignorance and darkness that you perpetuate with your harebrained opinions about God. The premature are often full of pride and prattle.

No, we have no respect for your opinions, and why should we? Do you respect the words of a man suffering senile dementia? Would you follow his ramblings as valuable insights and information? Spiritually speaking, what you say is no different. Shall we poke our eyes out to join you in your blindness?

You accuse us of twisting the Scriptures. Give us one example. Are we supposed to acquiesce to your almighty opinion by itself? Meanwhile, in the very place you make this vacuous charge you tell us you do not believe in a “vengeful” God. Listen to what God says about the matter:

“I will take revenge and be satisfied. In due time their foot will slip, because their day of disaster is near. Their doom is coming quickly” (Deuteronomy 32:35 GW).

“Oh yes,” you say, “that is the God of the Old Testament, not Jesus Christ. He is loving and forgiving.” Hear then what is written of Him:

“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 KJV).

So who is twisting the Scriptures, John? Why not shut your ignorant mouth and learn the truth rather than leading yourself and those who would follow you into the flaming fire of God, which is where you find yourself now? His Word is as fire; and what can you do to extricate yourself from the Truth?

Paul Cohen

John’s reply:

Dear Paul,

One of the beauties of my “sinful sensibilities” and my “ignorant mouth” is to tolerate folks like you and Victor.

At least I recognize my opinion to be so. I am not so delousional to believe that my opinions are somehow reflects by God. The same cannot be said for you and your pal.

It must be a sad and lonely existence that sees you and Mr. Hafichuk feeding off each other’s disapproval of the vast majority of folks who would be more inclined to laugh at you than listen.

I personally could not stand to live a life filled with so much anger and hate, and don’t know how you and Victor do it.

So let’s get this straight, I am cursed, mainstream Christianity and presumably it’s 2 billion followers are cursed. Based on your narrow views, I suspect followers of other faiths are too, which basically leaves your fringe group as the only one’s who aren’t cursed.

It must be embarrassing to google “Victor Hafichuk” and see the kinds of things that pop up. That must make being his side kick, all the more challenging for you.

Keep in mind it was you, the side kick of the all mighty Victor Hafichuk that resorted to name calling. There is nothing worse than a hypocrite preaching God’s word.

Paul’s reply:

John, you say you are not so delusional as to believe that your opinions reflect God. God is the Truth. Why do you place so much weight in your opinions if they do not reflect the Truth? Are you not premature in your self-congratulations? If you are not delusional enough to think you are receiving anything from God (which you do not), you certainly are foolish enough to believe what is uncorroborated and untrue. What is so beautiful about that?

What is so virtuous about rejecting words of truth and life, publicizing your rejection, and calling that “toleration”? Your boasting is evil, and you are the foremost victim of your foolishness.

How long must we point you to the actual words that have been spoken proving we never cursed you? Where do you find that we have cursed all those who call themselves by the Name of Christ? You are not only a liar, but a damned liar because you refuse to forsake your lies when confronted with the truth and asked to produce evidence. You damn yourself by stubbornly keeping your eyes shut and insisting you are right.

Whether you are the only person who reacted this way, or whether the entire world joined you, the truth does not change. Why should we be moved by any number of people who believe something untrue? Our lives are not miserable because others such as you choose to remain in the dark. Yours is. While we hope for something better, and speak out with that hope, we do not (by the grace of God only) suffer as fools because we are moved to believe what fools think of us. On the contrary, we have life and rejoice if we are so defamed because we identify with Jesus Christ and His words. That is exactly how He said we should feel, with good cause:

“Blessed are you when people hate you, avoid you, insult you, and slander you because you are committed to the Son of Man. Rejoice then, and be very happy! You have a great reward in Heaven. That’s the way their ancestors treated the prophets” (Luke 6:22-23 GW).

Why should we listen to you rather than to Jesus Christ? We are not ashamed of Him and His words like you are. I am not at all embarrassed at what pops up when one googles “Victor Hafichuk.” I am immensely thankful to be identified with Victor’s preaching of the truth in the Lord Jesus Christ, and also thankful not to be in the shoes of our detractors who do not know or love God and cannot make one of their lies stick. They, and you with them, are the ones who should be embarrassed, and will be:

“But the LORD is with me as a mighty warrior; therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be greatly ashamed, because they have not prospered, even with an everlasting confusion which shall never be forgotten” (Jeremiah 20:11 JPS).

Where do you find in God’s Word that the Lord and His prophets have not called anyone “names”? The Lord and those with Him do not speak in the spite or pettiness or vengeance of men, but with the truth in accurate and appropriate descriptions of behavior and persons, which includes such terminology as “fools,” “vipers,” “bastards,” “whores,” “blasphemers,” “adulterers and adulteresses,” “hypocrites,” “liars,” and more. Show us one thing we have said that does not match the Record of God’s sayings. Again, you can’t, because there is no such deviation between His works and ours. They are one. You are a false accuser and liar, besides being ignorant.

You say that our “name calling” is not godly, while you enter into some of your own. You are the hypocrite, John. Better you should face up to what you doing and repent of it, shedding the lies and your foolish stance. That is what we would prefer. You are the one who chooses to denigrate and to destroy himself, by mocking and scorning others in abject ignorance. You show yourself for the fool you are, and are very proud of it. And so you are and shall be cursed of God. All who come and read, mark these words, his and ours.

Paul Cohen

John’s reply:

Dear Paul,

I think you’re ridiculous and think you need to find better things do with your time then write tirades on my blog.

Not only does God have no place in politics, I believe you and Victor are an American based organization and therefore have no right to participate in Canada politics.

I am frankly uncomfortable with folks like you who feel the right to preach to those who don’t want to hear your fringe views on God. Generally they do so on street corners and I don’t make eye contact and walk away.

The fact that you’ve spent nearly two weeks defending your pal Victor Hafichuk is the saddest part. I’m not one to judge how one spends their time, but I would suggest you get a life.

Further – when I visited your site to see the kinds of responses you’ve received it appears most agree with me.

If you and Victor want to pretend that everyone but the two of you are cursed go for it.

The rest of us will try not to laugh.

John Laforet

Paul’s reply:

John, your ignorance and arrogance are breathtaking and astounding. God has no place in politics? Every last person on earth, yes, even politicians, draw their breath from Him and live by His animate life-power. He is not only your Creator, but the Sustainer of your life. How much more dependent could you possibly be on God?

God is omniscient and omnipresent. Who the hell are you to tell Him He has no place somewhere in His universe? You would cease to exist if He followed your dictates. Stupid man!

You believe we are an American-based organization? What you believe is your problem, John. You believe lies because you believe a liar – yourself. Go to our site, harvesthaven.com, and see that Alberta is still part of Canada.

But we are not Canadian-based either, inasmuch as we speak the Word of God from Heaven. Yes, the end is here. It is the Day of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Unlike the quintessential long-haired “prophet” declaring the end of the world from the street corner, we are coming right into your territory and claiming it for God. It is His and always was, but now He requires of you that which He speaks through us, and you will know it. So will everyone else.

Inaugurating the Kingdom of God on earth is time ill spent? Those are the sentiments of one who clings to himself and his kingdom that now falls before God.

“Doom to you who use lies to sell evil, who haul sin to market by the truckload, Who say, ‘What’s God waiting for? Let Him get a move on so we can see it. Whatever The Holy of Israel has cooked up, we’d like to check it out.’ Doom to you who call evil good and good evil, Who put darkness in place of light and light in place of darkness, Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Doom to you who think you’re so smart, who hold such a high opinion of yourselves!” (Isaiah 5:18-21 MSG).

Paul Cohen

John’s reply:

Dear Paul,

I didn’t tell God anything, I told you something. You and Victor may think whatever you’d like about the role of God in politics, I disagree. You’re right – the religious commune is in Lethbridge – thats where Victor and co. have their farm, but you’re not. Last I checked Montana is still not part of Canada.

I really don’t know what is the matter with you and wouldn’t want to judge based on a few incoherent bible based blog rants, but your insistence of living in a world of condemning your fellow man and constantly fearing a God you’re certain is vengeful must really take away from your quality of life.

I’m not angry with you for the name calling or misrepresentations of what I’ve said in reply to you, I just pity someone having your outlook and feeling the need to do nothing else in life than frankly turn more skeptics off faith with your bullshit.

You do christianity a real disservice in the eyes of the mainstream and can say whatever you’d like to or about me, but your words are painfully intolarent and speak more of the author than the receiver.

This will be my last reply to your self humiliating rants, just because I think you’re nuts and don’t care to put up with anymore of your crap.
Let’s hope for the sake of his customers that Victor’s intrepretion of food handling practices jives better with the author’s intent than his interpretation of the bible.

Paul’s reply:

As God’s emissaries, what you have said to us you have said to Him, John. Jesus Christ said of us:

“The one hearing you hears Me, and the one rejecting you also rejects Me, and the one rejecting Me also rejects the One having sent Me” (Luke 10:16 LITV).

It is your perverseness that causes you to see and hear the things you do, things we never said, thought, or felt. It is good that you will finally shut your mouth, as nothing good ever comes out of it.

Paul

In his blog, John presents this question:

Emissaries, frauds, whack jobs? – Readers, you be the judge. My views are clear on this clown and his friend.

“Concerned Insomniac” replied:

Paul,

I am concerned by the course of action that you and Victor have undertaken on this matter.

First of all, your posts are full of judgement of John. The Bible is quite clear about to whom the task of Judgement belongs:

“You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written:

‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.’ So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:10-12, NIV)

“Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?” (James 4: 11-12, NIV)

Also, it has been my experience that similar courses of action to that of you and Victor hand non-believers weapons to attack Christianity, and polarize people against evangelism. Although it lacks the sensational fire and brimstone, you might find an approach based on love to be more effective. Indeed, Jesus is written to have practiced an analogous approach:

“While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the “sinners” and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”” (Mark 2: 15-17)

Also, consider also the story of the adulterous woman in John 8, and also the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4.
And finally, consider:

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Colossians 4: 5-6, NIV)

Do you honestly believe that you make the most of EVERY opportunity you have to preach the Word by using the harsh approach you have in this case? It looks like at the very least you have only managed to push John further away from God. And what is worse is that it is quite possible that someone who might have been willing to accept the Lord into their lives may now find themselves turned off by your approach.

I ask you to please consider carefully your approach to evangelism in the future.

C.I.

Victor’s reply:

Hi John,

I expect there may be more of a reply coming from us, if you permit, but for the moment I would like to ask C.I. a question:

How would you view or interpret what the fire coming forth from the mouths of the two witnesses would be like? Can you tell us what you think it would look like or how it would sound or be expressed (Rev. 11)? Answer here or directly to us, if you will.

Please understand that I am not trying to put you on the spot or to be “smart.” I would like to know how you see that, not that I say you should necessarily know or that you are any less for not knowing. Indeed, if you do know, I would have to say that God is with you.

John’s reply:

The fact that any conversation like this is even happening or the exchange between Paul and I even began is nothing short of ridiculous. Do you realize how irrelevent all of this is compared to virtually anything going on in the world?

All you had to do Victor, and Paul too, was to understand that the fact remains a majority of Canadians voted for progressive parties and not the current government and as a Canadian I have certain rights that it appears, if I am to believe Victor is anything but delusional, apparently God doesn’t support, namely freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Victor – you don’t have to believe in democracy or my right to an opinion, but in the real world and off the commune – these things exist and your’s and Pauls tirades look bizarre to people in the real world.

I get that in your self righteous bubble you are right and the vast majority who disagree are wrong, but you’re in a battle for public opinion and both you and Paul have weakened your ability to make your case by looking ridiculous.

Keep it up if thats what you want to do, but you’re wasting your time and stand no chance of converting a single person with venom laced blog comments that mix the bible and you’re own intolarance.

Folks who choose to visit my site tend to agree with me by and large and anyone who googles your name and finds me probably thinks twice before getting involved because your fundamentalism is so far from mainstream it’s hard to see it as anything but an intolarent cult.

That’s you’re call and if you truly believe that is how you want to protray God (and actually believe in him yourself) you’re probably in far deeper trouble than I am when it’s time to cash in your chips.

Paul’s reply:

John, foolish man, how mistaken you are! There is nothing more relevant to your life and this earth than the things we are speaking from God. But that is the curse of pride, to aggrandize what is nothing to God, and to miss what is life itself. Poor creature, made in the image of God, but living as a beast that is going to slaughter!

Moses and Aaron also looked pretty ridiculous going in to Pharaoh and telling him that God said to let His people go. “Who is this Lord, that I should obey Him?” said Pharaoh. Didn’t Moses and Aaron know how the “political system” worked in those days?

We have already cashed in our chips, John. We are here to tell you that it is time to relinquish yours, too, which, whether willingly or otherwise, will happen. The kingdoms of men are the Lord’s, and all will now know it.
