Living with pets in the home is very commonplace in our culture and very few think anything of it. Keeping pets is an often-overlooked matter that causes great loss and suffering. Physically, spiritually, financially.
There are the two main ungodly facets of pet ownership. Physical uncleanness and spiritual uncleanness. And the two are closely related.
Let’s face it; you wouldn’t let just any animal in your home and clean up after it. Pooper scoopers, litter boxes, kennels, vacuuming, etc. And that’s assuming folks do clean up after their pets, which is often and grossly not the case.
If there was a raccoon crapping on your back lawn you wouldn’t just nonchalantly grab a baggy and clean up. You’d be disgusted… hopefully. But because of inordinate affections for pets, namely dogs and cats, people are willing to tolerate all kinds of filth and inconvenience.
People justify their affections with excuses. Among them is the famous saying that dogs are “man’s best friend.” Now, granted, dogs can have some wonderful qualities that make them pleasurable to be around and often quite useful.
But isn’t our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ, man’s best friend?
Why are people looking for fulfillment and satisfaction through a relationship with an unclean beast because of the qualities that God gave it, rather than seeking a relationship with the Creator of that creature?
People attribute far more value to these pets than is warranted; emotional, psychological, social, etc. Some people would argue that animals fill an emotional need. They fail to acknowledge that they have “emotional needs” because they don’t seek God to fill their spiritual needs. “Emotional needs” is another term for “lusts.” People shouldn’t even be looking to other people to fill their “emotional needs,” let alone beasts. If people have Jesus Christ, they won’t be plagued by loneliness. If you have Him, you have everything. Life is full and satisfying.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19 MKJV).
“And everyone who left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29 MKJV).
We have all heard of “crazy cat people” with dozens of cats in their home. They are no different than alcoholics who start with one drink. They try to fill the bottomless pit with a finite fix and it’s never enough. They need Jesus Christ to pull them out of the pit.
Obviously, there are different levels of affection for pets, but when people own pets to fill a hole in their life, that affection will inevitably become inordinate.
I have affection for our farm animals. I care for them and appreciate the personalities that God has given them, but they all serve a purpose and they don’t live in my house. The very fact that they are fulfilling a practical purpose furthers my appreciation for them. I know that I appreciate my best mousers more than the freeloading cats who beg for food and I don’t mind letting them know my appreciation by petting them. These are the relationships that God intended. He didn’t intend for people to substitute walking with Him in holiness for living with beasts in filthiness. It’s not natural.
I would confidently say that 90% of pet ownership is an ungodly heathen practice.
This inordinate affection towards animals is a dark slavery that rules captives of a fallen world. We’ve been subjected to adoring and serving beasts because we haven’t wanted to adore and worship the Lord. It is insanity; it is pagan madness. It is idolatry. It is sin, and sin kills.
Cats and dogs are wonderful in the yard for keeping pests and predators (animal or human) under control, but they don’t belong in a house.
I worked in the flood, mold, fire, and general home disaster industry for 3 years.
People claim their pets are so smart. They say their pets would never relieve themselves in the house. Pets certainly are smart. I’ve heard of a dog so smart it knew where to pee in the house so you wouldn’t find it. In my job, when homes flooded and all the pee spots were wetted simultaneously, it was enough to burn your eyes and nose.
Of course, there are varying levels of pet owner cleanliness. But even in the very cleanest homes I could smell it, whereas the pet owners were numb to it. Many of these people were visibly ill-looking. The health of the person’s appearance was directly correlated to how many pets and how well they cleaned up after them.
The fact is, living with animals is unclean. Many dogs will wipe their butts on your carpet by “scooching” if their bowel movement left any residue. Gross stuff? Absolutely! It’s downright disgusting!
Only a lack of value for sanitation and sanity will allow you to live with an animal. It’s just not natural! Cats don’t want to re-dig in the same location to do their business every day because it’s naturally unsanitary and unsafe to do so, but litterboxes force them to, resulting in parasite proliferation. Both the cats and the people cleaning up their feces are subject to parasite exposure.
There is a study showing that 40% of the folks in the UK are infected with a common cat parasite called toxoplasma gondii. This parasite has been linked to reckless driving and suicide. It alters brain chemistry and changes moods.
Pregnant women have been warned by their doctors not to change litter boxes or work in garden soils that cats may have pooped in. The medical establishment has known for a long time that cats carry parasites that cause toxoplasmosis, a parasite carried disease that causes miscarriage and birth deformities. But doctors are often reluctant to challenge social norms and say it like it is.
It’s not just pregnant people who get these parasites (which are harmful to everyone). Also, women don’t magically become parasite-free the day they become pregnant. Any parasites picked up before pregnancy will put the unborn child at risk.
Here’s another aspect: How much are pets costing you, and who gets the money? Many people think nothing of a $100 vet bill for a rabies shot and a “checkup,” thinking they’re being good, responsible pet owners.
Do you realize these shots are about as toxic and ineffective as the human vaccines that have poisoned and continue to poison millions of people, with the money going to the same evil pharmaceutical companies? That’s $100 that could have been used in more profitable ways. For example, many complain about not being able to afford organic food, yet readily hand over their money to Satan’s minions, supporting destructive enterprises. Not good! The money could perhaps even be used to further the Kingdom of God.
And how likely will the cat get rabies, anyway? How will that happen? It’s hugely unlikely that your animal will get in a fight with a diseased raccoon or skunk. Face the facts; this protocol is a money-making scheme that preys on man’s fear for himself and his pet god.
We’ve never had a cat with rabies at our farm and none were ever injected with the pharmaceutical industry’s toxic “preventative” concoctions.
Billions of dollars are wasted on animal illnesses. First, the pet owners buy the garbage processed pet “food” that causes disease, and then they must pay the vet to diagnose their pets with arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, allergies, cancer, and treat with prescriptions. The pet pharma-industry is booming in drug sales because of people poisoning their pets. It’s ironic that there are so many animal rights activists killing their “darling ones” with toxic processed pet foods. Don’t animals have a right not to suffer a lifetime of ailment brought on by toxic garbage food? If you’re going to take on the care of one of God’s creatures, you had better not be poisoning it, even in ignorance. Consider the following passage:
“A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel” (Proverbs 12:10 WEB).
A righteous man feeds his animal well, doesn’t lock it indoors, and doesn’t make it crap in a filthy box. On the flip side, the animal activist pet-loving folks who let animals sleep in their own beds are only interested in themselves and whatever fulfillment they can get out of their pets, having no regard for any creature, man or beast. Like the proverb says, their “tender mercies” amount to cruelty.
We live in a world where people justify toxic chemical agriculture by saying it’s needed to feed all the hungry poor people, while billions of dollars are wasted in North America yearly feeding animals that serve no purpose. The contradiction of sin is amazing.
The bottom line is that people love their pets more than their neighbor and a lot more than they love God.
The vegan cult values the life of animals over and above the people who will suffer without the precious nourishment sourced from organically-raised livestock. The vegan cries, “Murder, Murder!!!” but I’ve never met one that bats an eye when an unborn baby is slaughtered. No mourning and no funeral. The unborn children’s body parts are harvested for medical and cosmetic research, and their remains are dumped in trash cans, while millions of dollars are spent on pet funerals, cemeteries, cremation, and urns. Wickedness!! Pure evil!
One very good question for pet owners to ask themselves: “Why do I have this animal in my life?” An honest answer could be the difference between sickness and health; between filthiness and cleanliness. It could be the difference between worshipping the creation or the Creator!
Martin Van Popta
Victor writes:
“Our pets are like family to us!”
Says a pet owner to her dog “Come to mommy, baby boo! Mommy loves you! That’s my baby!”
Be assured that when it comes to that, the pet owner has long since stepped over the line of idolatry and yes, blasphemes against God Himself. Imagine that – human beings created in God’s image now spell “God” backwards and presume they can be the brother, sister, mother, father or whatever, of a four-legged creature that cannot have faith in or worship Creator God. It was not so from the beginning:
Genesis 2:20-23 ESV
(20) The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.
(21) So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.
(22) And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.
(23) Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
By calling dogs and cats “family,” people terribly degrade God. They may not deliberately be doing so or realize they’ve done it, but who can argue with the significance of the result? Where will things end with this world? The deification of animals is the fruit of rebellion against God.
Romans 1:18-25 ESV
(18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
(19) For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
(20) For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
(21) For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
(22) Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
(23) and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
(24) Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
(25) because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever! Amen.
I have a neighbor who has a gravesite for two “departed loved ones” behind her home. I have another neighbor who vehemently objected to this writing, saying of his dogs, “They are cherished members of my family and are always by my side, they don’t judge me , they show me love and loyalty which is a lot more than you can say about most humans.” Indeed, he is really saying dogs are better in most cases than humans.
It is pure paganism. But western society doesn’t view itself as pagan. My dictionary defines paganism as, “Any of various religions other than Christianity, Judaism or Islamism.” Have we not seen the expression of Islam these recent decades? How unpagan is that? How about Christianity during the Inquisition, the Dark Ages and even today? How about Judaism in the day of Christ and His disciples, whom the Jews persecuted to the death until the tables were soon turned on them through Roman tyranny?
Some people think of pagans as devil-worshipping, naked cannibals with bones in their noses and looks that could kill. But just what IS paganism? Paganism is simply the worship of the creature rather than the Creator. That’s it. Paganism often comes quite “civilized,” lawful, honorable, with peace, integrity, industry and what’s more, respectable religion.
Even more so, it comes with Christian religion. My neighbors profess faith in Jesus Christ; they believe they’re saved, yet they venerate their dogs, giving them funerals and flowered gravesites with memorial statues. Why not? They’re “cherished family members.” So cherished, they clean up their dung behind them as they go for a walk. To be sure, it is legally and socially decent of them to do so, but at the same time, isn’t it gross?
But what is even more gross is when some watch and allow their “cherished family members” to do their dump on my lawn and walk away leaving me with the mess. Are their pets so precious their “shit doesn’t stink”? Do they really think their pet dung is better and more harmless than their own? Would these pet owners themselves dare crap on my lawn and think nothing of it? I say, “Yes.”
How can it be otherwise? Follow the facts to their logical conclusion and the only thing stopping people from offending in these things is God’s Law permeating our western Judeo-Christian culture, Law that He established and published for our good.
People, in their idolatrous love of a dog or cat, come against the All-wise God and His Law. Those who claim to worship Him have contemned His Law in all their ways, yet think they do God service. “In vain do they worship Me with their lips but their hearts are far from Me,” said Jesus Christ and the prophets.
We are in sad and tragic times, times that presage great wrath and judgment from God, which has now come upon our once blessed nations. The blessing is being removed as we speak. Mock godliness with all its carelessness is now being thrown into the fires of judgment that true godliness may come forth to God’s glory.
We write these things to primarily address those who call themselves “Christian” but continue to live the pagan life, that life of ignorance, carelessness, lawlessness, uncleanness, and unholiness.
Those who truly believe on the Lord do not take His Name in vain. They take up their cross and make a break with the ways of this world that is at enmity with God in its thinking, habits, customs, traditions, and lifestyles.
In a group discussion on pets, Victor Hafichuk says:
Plenty to talk about and nobody speaks. All kinds of issues killing you all, and your children, you do your own thing, asking nothing of us, saying nothing; we have MMI document and plenty of advice available but you all just do your own thing, waste your time, resources, energy, and what? “Come to church” in silence, then go out doing the same old thing, living NO DIFFERENTLY FROM THE WORLD THAT PERISHES IN ITS SINS!!!
How good is that? God hands us simple solutions to all problems, but everybody knows everything so why bother asking about ANYTHING?
Like Dennison said, he thought he had to handle his problems himself, or could, or should…. Yet, you all go about in this daze of stupidity and ignorance, destroying yourselves. It is madness.
So is all you want is religion, some conscience-salving, some curiosity satisfaction and then go out and “drink up” more of your ways? I have to say that when I first became a believer, delivered of sins, I was the same. It didn’t even OCCUR to me to ask for help.
We live in a poisoned environment and we have received and submitted to it like it is beneficial progress. Damned, we all are. Repentance is needed on every level in every area, all the time.
There is joy and satisfaction in obedience; sorrow and suffering, otherwise.
The gravest house pet to deal with is the beast within, that one big vicious parasite, that man of sin.
Update, March 2018, especially urgent for house pet owners:
Encephalitis – Does Your Dog Give a Lick?
I had never made the connection between Marilyn Paul letting her poodle lick her mouth and her falling seriously ill with encephalitis. The medical establishment was stymied as to the cause of her illness. When I recently red David Wolfe’s article posted here, I remembered and realized this could be the answer.
People are living dangerously in their naïve pleasures and don’t even know it. Today, especially, there’s a growing inordinate fondness for house pets.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” (Hosea 4:6 MKJV).

Hello Victor
FINALLY!! Someone wrote an article telling it like it is with pets. Now I love kitties and doggies like most people but my husband and I agree with what you said. The PTB (powers that be) in this world are using pets not only to make a lot of money with the pet food which is toxic, drugs, toys and pet supplies, clothes for pets, etc but we believe there is a more nefarious agenda of having pets in the home and that is to get people into bestiality. Bestiality is already been made legal in Canada by Trudeau. What a sick world in which we live Anyways, I enjoy your website. Keep up the good work. God bless you.
In Christ
Patsy
Hi, Patsy! Sadly, I have to agree with what you’re saying. The thought about a concerted move toward bestiality in the pet scene didn’t cross my mind, I must admit, but I wouldn’t in the least doubt it as being on the agenda for many.
We do have a perverse, degenerate, unapologetic, all-restraints-cast-off prime minister – AND country to great extent, now, as we’ve often experienced on the net and in person – sin rampant in every aspect of society. We’re not only in the last days, but the Last Day, not just for Canada, but all the earth.
It amazes us at how Trudeau can go on in his blatant corruption. He obviously has the support of several in power with him, not just the Liberal party members and those of his caucus. I was appalled when Canadians chose him over Stephen Harper in the polls. It is a dark day, indeed, but this is God’s judgment on Canada for its iniquity and blasphemy toward God. He says to Canadians, “So, you don’t want Harper’s ethics, equity, and conservative, Judeo-Christian values? I’ll give you Trudeau’s iniquity and decadence. Let’s see how you fare with that.”
Martin Van Popta, my son in the faith, a brother in Christ, and in arms, with whom I am of one heart and soul by God’s grace, is largely responsible for the house pets article as granted by the Lord. Would you like to submit this letter to TPOT Forum so that others might be edified and encouraged? You may include my reply to you if you wish.
Ronnie, our webmaster, can help you if you need it. As you can see, I’m cc’ing them.
Thanks again, Patsy, to you and your husband, for your letter, your input, your blessing. May God grant you all the faith, simplicity, honesty, courage, and strength to endure to the end to His glory, honor, and praise. It’s all about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Almighty God. We are highly privileged.

Addendum, July 25 2022:
People don’t realize it but most pet-keeping is genuine, even if “soft” cruelty to animals. Think of all the things people do with pets and place yourself in their boots.
They’re fed toxic commercial pet food (read and investigate the ingredients on the common fare for dogs and cats – no wonder they die prematurely of cancer, heart disease, and all the diseases people suffer from their outrageous diets and sedentary lifestyles.
Many pets barely see sunlight and exercise, and when they do, it may only be for a few minutes daily. Several of our neighbors deal just these ways with their dogs and cats.
Pets spend a lot of time alone with neither human nor animal companionship. We have people who keep horses in their paddocks – they never spend more time with them than the few minutes it takes to feed and water them. No running, no playing, no same nature company. They don’t ride them. It’s pretty much solitary confinement.
When taken out, dogs have usually required a leash, a short leash. They don’t get to do anything freely, no running, no investigating, no freedom at all. Isn’t that nice?
How selfish people are that they should be so thoughtlessly cruel to animals. There ought to be laws to stop it and punish offenders. And there are, but not from beneath so much as from above! Martin lists them adequately, doesn’t he? And still, so many people don’t learn. They prefer to perish with a lick on the face from a tongue that licks its privates. Wonderful! Godly! Wise! How loved these people feel, huh!
Why do people keep pets? They’re experiencing what they think is companionship, attention, and love from them. So, how do they repay them? I’ve just told you.
And why do people go for it? It’s because they’re members of a dysfunctional society full of lonely, broken, sad, ignorant, proud people who substitute soft animal cruelty to comfort and please themselves. Often it’s because they can’t easily associate with their fellow beings so they take a step down to the beastly realm where they don’t get too easily reminded of how inadequate they are as people in relating to people.
And guess what? When they go down there, do they bring pets up to their level or descend to the pet’s level? Think about it. “Oh, come to mommy, sweety!
They’re deemed to be ‘precious family members,’ just as important and entitled to rights as humans. After all, they say dogs can be much friendlier than people. They don’t argue, they don’t fight, they cuddle, and pay attention to their masters’ words and tears, and the list goes on.
Pet owners get thrilled with cuddles, licks, and wagging tails and they call it love that surpasses human affection and understanding. How dark has this world become! How sad! How idolatrous! Did you know it was seldom this way decades ago, and still isn’t in some wiser circles of societies.
And it gets worse, doesn’t it? Yes, we know and are ashamed at the thought of it. But we won’t go there.
Victor
Martin had these things to say regarding house pets and young children:
The pet dander, hair, fecal matter, and urine are so stressful for a young child’s tender sinuses that it can, and often does restrict nasal breathing. This leads to dysfunctional swallowing while nursing. This leads to ear infections and colic, and also poor skeletal development of the cranial cavity and airways. This leads to mineral deficiencies, constant colds and flus and crowded teeth. Which leads to cavities, braces, migraines, poor posture, back pain and more. The mouth breathing caused by underdeveloped nasal pathways leads to asthma, high blood pressure, heart stress, osteoporosis, depression, anxiety, exhaustion.
I have seen housepets make children downright ugly. It literally ruins their facial development and the damage is permanent. I can tell you stories from people we know personally where their child’s chronic health problems immediately subsided after getting rid of the dog.
Not to mention the parasites and your house stinking like a barn.
House pets, especially during early child development, can knock decades off a person’s life. It will certainly rob them of quality of life.
