Why are we not offended at insults and evils done to us? It is because God has removed the power and burden of pride in us. He has crucified our egos, which are a hindrance to any man or woman who desires to be free and live life to the fullest. The world thinks pride is a good thing, but God calls it evil; there are few things He despises more than man’s pride. It is written:
“Pride comes, then shame comes; but with the lowly is wisdom” (Proverbs 11:2 MKJV).
“Only by pride comes argument, but with those who take advice is wisdom” (Proverbs 13:10 MKJV).
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18 MKJV).
“A man’s pride shall bring him low; but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit” (Proverbs 29:23 MKJV).
The world thinks pride is good. How wrong it is! If people only knew how much pride costs them! But almost all people, if they even recognize their pride, are too proud to face the fact that pride is not good; so they cling to their pride and inevitably succumb to anger, depression, self-pity, resentment, bitterness, fear, worry, revenge – all which lead, and bind them firmly, to loss, failure, defeat, humiliation, sorrow, disappointment, misery, suffering, destruction, and death in its many daily forms.
