James, you don't know the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore you don't know what's in any man's heart, including your own.
“But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all and did not need that anyone should testify of man. For He knew what was in man” (John 2:24-25 MKJV).
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 MKJV)
Here's what Jesus said to those like Clayton Jennings, who also thought they were spreading the Word of God:
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves” (Matthew 23:15 ESV).
Did the Lord give these religious zealots credit for spreading the word?
You know nothing at all, James, because you think you know something.
“And if any man thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know” (1 Corinthians 8:2 MKJV).
Testifying of the Lord isn't about self-confidence - it's about a walk of faith those in Christ have, who rejoice when hated and falsely judged because they are identified with Him:
“Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall cut you off, and when they shall reproach you and shall cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy. For behold, your reward is great in Heaven. For so their fathers did according to these things to the prophets” (Luke 6:22-23 MKJV).
Clayton Jennings is spreading the word about himself, and you, as an idolater, receive him.
“I have come in My Father's Name, and you do not receive Me. If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. How can you believe, you who receive honor from one another and do not seek the honor that comes from God only?” (John 5:43-44 MKJV)
