Jonathan Tobin - Defending the Right to a Jewish State

Post by Sara V Schmidt »

Victor shares this article:

http://www.jewishworldreview.com/1214/tobin120114.php3

And writes:

Netanyahu is right and time has come for Israelis to stand and say, “This land is OUR land, period.”

And to hell with “democracy.” What IS that anyway? Democracy is the bottom of the image dreamt by Nebuchadnezzar as recorded in Daniel. It is the feet of iron and clay, base materials compared to gold, silver and even bronze. Iron and clay are materials that won’t mix together and are doomed to failure. That’s what democracy is, a mixture of rulers and the ruled, with each presuming to rule the other. Democratic government is not only the bottom of Daniel’s image, it is “the bottom of the barrel.” So why cling to it as virtuous?

This move of Netanyahu’s is visionary and necessary. Some Jews are apparently catching on that they must stand up for what should and must ultimately be true; they must be willing to put away their fears and lay it all open on the table. They must take Esther’s lead and say, “If I perish, I perish, but here’s my stance.” It is coming to an “all or nothing” situation, isn’t it? No middle ground, hoping and pretending all is fine; it’s not. Israel, it’s time to “fish or cut bait.”

God's peace on you all.

I am not sure if you were looking for a reply from anyone to this article but I had to respond....

you said....

“And to hell with “democracy.” What IS that anyway? Democracy is the bottom of the image dreamt by Nebuchadnezzar as recorded in Daniel.....”

You know Victor, I have heard many theories on what the feet of “iron and clay” represent, but this is the first time I have ever heard of them representing “Democracy.”

I was made aware, some time ago, that democracy was/is not of God,,,,that is to say, a form of Godly government. Of course, none of the man-made systems are. I realise now, late as it is and with much shame, that God gave us a perfect form of Governance within the Ten Commandments, which I have despised in my carnal ways. Lord, grant me to love and keep Your Perfect Law, Your Word.

When I think about it, what you have said here Victor, rings loud and clear. It makes so much sense. This is indeed a revelation from God.

As you may know, in my ignorance, I was cheering on the Palestinian cause and cursing Israel. I now know better, thanks be to God and TPOT.

This scripture comes to mind....

[ I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but ratherthrough their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Romans 11:11]

This scripture reminds me that Christ, in His mercy, has granted me salvation through the Jews. Israel's time of trouble has opened the gate for me and I should be thanking God and blessing Israel rather than cursing her.

Peace of Christ

Brian.

Amen, Brian! How good is the Lord Who gives us light and understanding. I'm reminded of what He said: "If you continue in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32 MKJV).
