Sensationalizing the Cross
Victor ran across a video of Louie Giglio talking about Laminin which is apparently a special protein in the body that holds everything together. There are various aspects of the story that I thought about.
1) Apparently the cross semblance is based on an academic type drawing of what this protein looks like whereas the actual view of the protein is much more distorted so it’s a stretch to say it’s in the shape of a cross. It reminds me of the diagram of a “virus”.
2) While I do see all sorts of patterns in creation like rivers or tributaries looking like capillaries in the eye, I don’t see the cross being highlighted as a beautiful or glorious thing in this world. I see it as the ugly passageway to the next world. This isn’t to say the physical shape of the cross can’t be found in nature as a message. I used to see power lines running across old power poles that were in the shape of the cross and I would think to myself that the power was hinged upon and made available through death. I do have an imagination though.
3) I certainly don’t care for the worship of the cross like it’s being displayed. It reminds me of the king who had to destroy the brazen serpent.
4) I appreciate and frankly enjoy the idea of the cross being an actual symbol written within our bodies, but I don’t know about this.
5) That preacher and the background music reminds me way too much of charismatic circles and my stomach turns a bit.
