Satan presents spiritual strategies and methodologies to substitute for the authentic faith of Christ, which no man can summon, earn, or imitate, no matter how long he sits and listens. “Being still” and “thinking on the Lord” in this case are also works of the flesh.
The Worthingtons’ website, Missing Cross to Purity, provides some true observations about false Christianity while promising the moon and the stars – a full and satisfying relationship with Jesus Christ. Presented as direct revelation from God without religious affiliation, this website catches the attention of people searching for answers outside of nominal Christendom.
“Outside the camp” is where the Lord is found – outside of the works of men He has neither sanctioned nor inhabited. But just being on the outside isn’t enough; one needs to go where He is, and He isn’t where the Worthingtons have gone. They’ve set up their own camp, independent of others and of God.
The “missing cross to purity” is still missing in their presentation, because the Worthingtons have never met the Lord Jesus Christ or taken up His cross in order to be delivered of the first Adam’s sin. They’ve sought and met “another Jesus,” an imposter summoned up by a substitute form of righteousness through Quaker meditation, which entails “waiting on and hearing from the Lord.” This “hearing” has led the Worthingtons to do works of self-will and self-affirmation that poses as Christ-affirmation and taking up His cross. It’s strong delusion, Satan once again coming as an angel of light.
The Worthingtons claim:
“This site shows you how to access the grace of God which leads to repentance, which leads to the completion of salvation and the Kingdom; to have fellowship with Jesus and the Father; to live in their presence, to be led by the Spirit of God; and to live in paradise – while on earth.”
There are a couple major things wrong with this statement. To begin with, it’s presumptuous and wrong to claim they can teach you how to access God’s grace. How can it be grace if you can access it? Grace is all His doing and none of ours.
“Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, and forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” (Romans 2:4 EMTV)
Grace is the divine influence of God at work through His gift of faith in Christ that causes one to believe. The Worthingtons’ program of “accessing grace” is a work of the flesh that goes against true grace and faith:
Romans 10:6-11 MKJV
(6) But the righteousness of faith says this: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who shall ascend into Heaven?’” that is, to bring Christ down;
(7) or “Who shall descend into the deep?”; that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.
(8) But what does it say? “The Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart”; that is, the Word of Faith which we proclaim;
(9) Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
(10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.
(11) For the Scripture says, “Everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame.”
It’s not our work to obtain from God what He freely gives, but to believe on Him Whom He has sent, which we do by His grace:
“For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 MKJV).
The Worthingtons, despite their humble-sounding talk, boast of their works and teach you to have confidence in their methodology rather than in the living God. It is demonic deception.
When Jesus came, did He say He would teach people how to access the grace of God, or did He call them to repentance? How could He forget grace, something so critical for your salvation? Because the Lord’s appearing IS the grace of God. “And the power of the Lord was present to heal them” (Luke 5:17 EMTV).
Here’s something else from Worthingtons’ site about their “grace-attaining” practices:
“Whatever works for you to get into the Light, keep using it. We know people who have gone into the Light by a variety of meditation methods. One person using TM [Transcendental Meditation] had the Light tell her that it would heal her. It was suggested to her that the Light was Christ, but that person rejected the Light to be Christ, because she had rebelled from a condemning fundamental christian sect. Rejecting the Light to be Jesus, she missed the opportunity to be healed of her sickness and the opportunity to attain union with God in his Kingdom.”
Children of the Light don’t need to try to “get into the Light.” These people are replacing the Lord Jesus Christ and His grace with the imaginations of their own minds and whatever dark forces they access by their damnable techniques. It is the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place.
Here’s what the Scripture says:
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice on the hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:1-2 MKJV).
There is rest in the Beloved for those who believe. But the Worthingtons have worked their way into a grace minus the faith of Christ. They’ve used black faith in themselves, substituting their own works, spiritual experiences, and comprehension for the faith of Christ. They are deluded. They have come to the wedding feast another way and are without proper attire. They haven’t undergone regeneration and become new creatures.
When I had gone astray as a new believer, God sent His servant to speak what I needed to hear in order to be delivered from sin. The Worthingtons, with their burdensome how-to manual of accessing God, couldn’t have helped me. They’re not helping anyone now, either, except to become independent know-it-alls like they are.
Hi Hall,
While looking at a page someone sent me, I found your advertised article, “Why Jesus Is the Only Way to Union.” I went to your website and have some things to say to you and your wife.
You say some true things, but your attitude is proud and defensive. You write:
“If you want to preach your conflicting views, argue or quarrel, we will not respond; we don’t argue.”
Do you view anyone who has a perspective different from yours, and can show you a better way, as unworthy of your consideration? How about listening to someone who has something from the Lord, to correct you regarding things in which you are plainly wrong? Are you the only one the Lord speaks to, if He indeed speaks to you at all? Do you not acknowledge there are, or could be, other ministers of Christ, prepared and sent of Him?
Correct knowledge of spiritual matters can come from sources other than God. Have you not heard about that? Satan comes as an angel of light. You think he doesn’t know much? Your knowledge of true things is no sign that you are in Christ.
We don’t know you by your knowledge, but by your fruits. Your attitude isn’t the fruit of a relationship with Jesus Christ. He isn’t the way you are. He isn’t insecure and exclusive. He doesn’t speak or act as you do. We know, because we know Him. By His grace we walk and speak as He does in this world. You hate and reject Him.
The Lord our God doesn’t nullify the ministering of those He raises up as shepherds to guide His sheep, as you have done. You throw out the baby with the bathwater. Read The Big Lie Exposed. Or do as you insist and keep holding your hands over your ears so you can’t hear anything but what you want to hear. Know this: God will bring you into judgment for your ways and attitude, and has.
You and you wife tell others to go directly to God for their teaching while supplying them with false teachings that keep them from Him. You are self-righteous, hypocritical preachers of men’s works.
“Pray for the Father to motivate you more by drawing you to Him while on earth. Offer Him your life-long best efforts in exchange for his drawing you to Him. Doubting his existence, I once said such a prayer and he answered with an indelible experience; an experience he has told me ‘anyone can have if they humbly ask.’ (That experience created a hunger that motivated me for over 25 years.) He said in meditation to my wife, ‘be the very best you can. . . . . for me!’ (To His benefit as well as yours.)”
The Bible likens your “life-long best efforts” to used menstrual pads. Can you imagine offering those to God? What you had wasn’t an experience from God, but from devils.
And those who doubt God’s existence don’t receive from Him:
“But without faith it is impossible to please God, for it is necessary for the one approaching God to believe that He is, and that He becomes a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 EMTV).
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him. But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing, for he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he shall receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:5-7 EMTV).
“But, the one doubting, if he eats, he has been condemned, because it is not of faith; and all that is not of faith is sin” (Romans 14:23 MKJV).
Devils are playing with you, as a cat plays with a mouse.
Another person wrote to Hall and Joan in 2009 and included my letter, hoping for a reply. There was none, as with my sending. These people are fearful and withdrawn, which isn’t a trademark of God’s work, but of man’s. Therefore they have good reason for their insecurity.
